When you decide to get married, or hold any ceremony, you often want to have something else in there that makes it feel a little more special.  Be it handfasting, or a candle ritual, here are a few ideas that you can add to your special day.

Exchanging Vows

The most common ritual, the exchanging of vows, written by yourself or by me, that are words of love and hope to share with each other.

Candle Ritual

From Roman and greek history somes the lighting of two canfles, which, in turn, light a singel candle together, signifyinhg unity and love.

Sand Pouring

Stemming from Native American culture, the layering nad mixing of sand into a new vessel is symbolic of the mixing of two families into one.

Hand-Fasting

A celtic ritual of laying a braided rope around the hands and the newly married pulling the ends and, effectively, "tying the knot" - very popular.

Ring warming

On old Irish custom, the rings are passed through the congregation, everyone warming them until they come together to the newly-weds.

Wine Box ritual

Vows are locked into a box with their favourite tipple.  At their 5 year anniversary, they open it to re-read the vows and drink the wine.

Oathing stone

Another Celtic ritual, the couple hold their chosen stone together whilst taking their vows, essentially "setting them in stone" hence the expression.

Flower Ceremony

Flowers are gathered from the guests during the ceremony into a vase that is presented to the couple, who add the last two flowers, normally roses.
